Hi Kee Summer Enrichment Program 2010


For the past 8 summers, Steele Hill Community Partners, Inc. has offered a summer enrichment program for the students of the Indian Land community.

Steele Hill Community Partners, Inc was organized and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the State of South Carolina in April 2005. The mission of the organization is to provide and facilitate community services that improve the quality of life for the residents of Northern Lancaster County and like communities.





What is the Hi Kee Summer Enrichment Program?

Goals:

  • To provide a positive, safe and enriching summer experience for students and staff ,

  • To curb the learning loss that happens during the summer,

  • To encourage lifelong readers and learners.


    Schedule

    Dates: June 7 – July 9, 2010



  • 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM/Monday - Friday




  • Format: Students will be assigned by 2010-11 School Year Grade




  • Teachers: Certified Teachers and Teacher Assistants of Lancaster County Schools Assistant Teachers: High School and College Students


  • Grades: K-2, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8 (Final classes will be based on registrations)




  • Core Focus Areas: Reading, Writing, Math, Science




  • Cultural Areas: Arts and Computers!




  • 4-H Hour: Sponsored by Lancaster 4-H to Compliment Math and Science




  • Service Area: Students of Indian Land School and Community




  • Location: Steele Hill AME Zion Church - 6021 Charlotte Highway - Lancaster, SC






  • Registration: $30.00 per student (Please provide morning snack and lunch)


  • BB&T Scholars: The Indian Land BB&T is offering scholarships for 5 students. Requirment: One or both parent's are unemployed due to the economy and are receiving unemployment benefits. Please contact Fred Witherspoon for additional information.


  • Donors and Partners: Lancaster County Partners for Youth Partners, BB&T, Lancaster Council of The Arts (LCCA), IL Schools, Lancaster County 4-H, Kenaki Karate, Community Reading Volunteers



Daily Schedule





  • 7:30 AM - 8:00 AM Arrival



  • 8:00 AM - 8:30 AM Community Time



  • 8:30 AM - 11:00 AM Academics, Special Programs, Morning Snack



  • 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM Lunch



  • 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM Arts




  • Registration Ends: May 28, 2010
